What is your cleaning process?

For carpets (upholstery is similar), our process is the one recommended by the carpet manufacturers, and most likely can be found on your carpet warranty - hot water extraction, more often called "steam" cleaning, using very powerful equipment mounted in the van - i.e. "truck mount". If you have heard the teminology "truck-mounted steam cleaning", you've hit the nail on the head. Some of the highlights are:

• move furniture and pre-vacuum
• pre-spray all of the carpeted areas - not just heavy traffic areas
• extract with clear, clean hot water - leaving behind no residue
• Scotchgard, if requested
• replace furniture, and block (small stryrofoam blocks) to prevent stains from wood or metal
• groom carpet, which aids in drying

Another important factor is to remember that we clean your carpet using the best products and processes available. There is no "basic" service, bronze/silver/gold packages, or any other such nonsense where you will be asked to pay more for a *better* cleaning. We clean every carpet or floor to the best of our ability - like it was our own.

Tile Cleaning is very similar to this - remove visible dirt, spray tile cleaner, clean with hot water, and then seal if desired. When we are done, it is immediately dry.

What is the normal drying time for carpet?

Normal drying time is usually 2 - 4 hours with just cleaning, and around 4 if Scotchgarding is included. Some hints to speed up drying time:

• Turn on ceiling fans - this will speed up drying time considerably. We often have rooms dry in under 1 hour in the rooms with ceiling fans.
• Open windows, turn on house fans, or in the winter, turn on the heat.
• Keep the smaller items, and any furniture that is possible, off the carpet. This increases the air circulation, which aids in drying.

Does the outside weather have any effect on cleaning?

Most of the time, the answer is no. We do just as much work in the winter/rainy season as in the summer. The house's heating system, ceiling fans, and often fireplaces all help to dry the carpet just as fast as in the summer with the windows open.

I was told not to clean my carpets for _____ amount of time - is this true? How often should they be cleaned?

Carpet mills and manufacturers have extensive information on their web sites, and they would be the best resource for this information.

Additionally, cleaning requirements for residential settings vs. commercial settings differs, so it's best to research both the information from mills, and please give us a call. We work extensively with carpet mills, and can provide you with honest information.
